Targets

Overview

Targets are where 1eyeᴬᴵ turns signals, ICPs, and personas into focused target contacts and target lists.

In 1eyeᴬᴵ, targeting starts with your Knowledge Base — ICPs and personas — and becomes actionable through Target Contacts and Target Lists. A target list brings together the contacts you want to engage and the workflow used to build that list, ready to push to a Destination.

Use Targets to define who matters, review fit, build focused audiences, and prepare them to move into your CRM.

What Targets help you do

Targets help your team move from raw activity to focused action.

Use Targets to:

  1. Define your ideal target companies through ICPs

  2. Define your ideal target contacts through personas

  3. Review target contacts and the company behind each one

  4. Build focused target lists

  5. Filter target contacts by persona and ICP

  6. Select contacts from Website Signals

  7. Import contacts by CSV

  8. Push target lists to a Destination

Signals show activity. Targets help you decide who to pursue.

How targeting works in 1eyeᴬᴵ

Targeting starts with your Knowledge Base and becomes actionable through Target Contacts and Target Lists.

  1. ICPs define target companies
ICPs tell 1eyeᴬᴵ what kinds of companies are a good fit.

  2. Personas define target contacts
Personas tell 1eyeᴬᴵ what kinds of people to find inside those companies.

  3. Website Signals show active contacts
Signals help you find contacts already engaging with your website, with company fit shown inline.

  4. Target Contacts hold the full pool
Every contact 1eyeᴬᴵ has identified from your website visitors, with persona and ICP fit visible at a glance.

  5. Target Lists focus the audience
A target list is a curated subset of Target Contacts, built for a specific GTM motion.

  6. Destinations engage the selected contacts
Once a list is ready, push it to HubSpot or Salesforce so your team can act on it.

ICPs and personas power targeting

ICPs and personas are the strategy layer behind targeting.

ICPs answer:

Which companies should we care about
Which companies should we care about
Which companies should we care about

Personas answer:

Which people inside those companies should we engage
Which people inside those companies should we engage
Which people inside those companies should we engage

Together, they help 1eyeᴬᴵ evaluate every target contact and build sharper target lists.

Use Target Contacts to review persona and ICP fit, inspect a contact's full record, and decide who belongs in a target list. See Target Contacts for the full walkthrough.

Target Lists

A Target List is a focused subset of Target Contacts, built around a specific segment, persona, or GTM motion, and ready to push to a Destination.

See Target Lists for how to build and manage one.

Best practices

  1. Start with ICPs and personas
Good targeting starts with clear company and contact definitions in your Knowledge Base.

  2. Use signals to prioritize
Active contacts are often better starting points than a cold list.

  3. Keep lists focused
Build target lists around a clear segment, persona, or use case rather than everything at once.

  4. Review company fit alongside persona fit
A strong persona match at a poor-fit company is still worth a second look.

  5. Refine over time
As your team learns which segments convert, update your Knowledge Base and build sharper lists.

Troubleshooting

My target list is noisy

Check ICP quality, persona quality, filter criteria, and exclusions.

I have contacts but the companies don't look like a fit

Review the company context on the contact record. If the companies aren't a fit, tighten your ICP or add exclusions.

I don't know whether to start from ICPs, personas, or signals

Start with ICPs and personas if you know the segment you're after. Start with Website Signals if you want to act on contacts already showing activity.
